South Stand Redevelopment

In December 2004 the RFU's revised scheme or the redevelopment of Twickenham Stadium's South Stand received approval from the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames and work on the new stand started in June 2005. The revised scheme has increased the stadium's capacity from 75,000 to 82,000, with the playing area being fully enclosed by spectator seating to produce a completed bowl.

Commercially, the new scheme will include a 156 bed four star Marriott hotel featuring six VIP suites with views over the pitch, an additional 5000m2 of conference and exhibition space, including an auditorium with tiered theatre style seating for up to 400, a Virgin Active Classic health club and a new Rugby Store.
