With the appointments of two highly regarded industry specialists, Twickenham Stadium has underlined its ambition to lead the field in the Conference and Events industry.
The announcement that Louise Evans (Conference and Events Operations Manager) and Nick Kenton (New Business Development Manager) will join the team follows an extremely successful start to the year, illustrated by the 320% growth in its non match day events business since 2008/9.
Evans joins Twickenham in a new capacity to support the expansion of the venue’s thriving non match day business. The appointment follows a restructure that will deliver specific operational management focus and support to both match day and non match day business. She joins Twickenham from the Really Useful Group Theatres, where she was Hospitality Manager for three years, delivering significant and impactful events. She will work alongside Matt Smith, Major Event Operations Manager, who is responsible for all pitch-related hospitality and public catering business at events, from matches to concerts.
Kenton bring a wealth of industry-specific sales experience, having previously worked at both Chelsea and Arsenal Football Clubs. Nick started his events career at Stamford Bridge as the club developed its facilities to provide residential conference and events space before becoming a vital part of the award-winning team at the Emirates as the stadium made its mark on the London business tourism skyline.
Said Chris Morris, Managing Director of Twickenham Experience Ltd, “It has always been our intention to structure our business to provide a dedicated and senior focus to each of our two primary business streams. With the launch of the new South Stand development we have a thriving C&E business with a second year turnover of £4m.
“With further growth predicted, conference and event revenue will become a major part of the stadium’s business. We are now competing with international standalone C&E venues and these appointments are crucial in ensuring we grow and develop our team to offer our clients the very best service possible.
“We have experienced phenomenal growth due to the development of our new facilities and despite the economic downturn we still see considerable opportunity. Bringing in Nick and Louise is a reaction to not only our future optimism but also the current demand from clients wishing to book our facilities.
